Probable Maximum Loss (PML) study for a four-story wood frame building.
IDA was called in to provide additional analysis after a previous study described substantial retrofit work. IDA was able to show that the building had significantly greater capacity to resist seismic than was previously assumed, eliminating all seismic retrofit and saving the Owner hundreds of thousands of dollars. In addition, the modernization of the building won the 2013 Berkeley Design Advocates Award of Excellence.
