Seismic analysis and modernization of four buildings originally constructed in the 1950s, for Oakland Unified School District.

Building types include a single-story hybrid steel-wood-concrete shop building; a tilt-up precast concrete and steel gymnasium; a one-story concrete and steel cafeteria building and a 3-story building. The 3-story concrete and steel building contains classrooms and an auditorium. Retrofits include a new steel braced frame in the gym, steel braces in the shop building at the sawtooth roof, new connections and the addition of concrete shear walls, and carbon fiber polymer reinforcing to selected elements. IDA prepared and managed a concrete testing program to verify material strengths shown on the drawings.
