The South Hayward Youth & Family Center (SHYFC) is a community center developed by the City of Hayward, the County of Alameda, and the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District (HARD).

This new 30,000 sf building provides on-site wellness, education, recreation, and career growth programs. It houses health clinics as well as maker spaces and performance spaces. IDA designed the two-story steel-framed structure to have a lateral system consisting of Buckling-Restrained Braced Frames (BRBF) and created a feature stair in the lobby made of steel.
