New LEED Gold rated community and recreation center for the City of Berkeley. Six times larger than the original building.
The new 3,300-square-foot clubhouse replaces a much smaller 565-square-foot structure built in 1971. The upgraded facility now features a flexible multi-purpose room, a kitchen, four ADA-compliant indoor restrooms, and a landscaped outdoor patio.
Designed with sustainability and comfort in mind, the new clubhouse incorporates several energy-efficient and environmentally friendly features, including:
• Operable windows with automatic ventilation
• Solar panels with battery storage
• Radiant floor heating
• Daylight-responsive lighting
• Water-sensing irrigation systems
In a first for any city-owned building in Berkeley, the clubhouse also includes bird-safe glass-etched windows that help prevent bird collisions.
