Major retrofit, renovation, and upgrade for this community center serving seniors since the late 1970s.
IDA began with an ASCE-41seismic evaluation to determine the extent of retrofit needed for the structure and worked with the team to design the renovation to meet the goals of the City of Berkeley. The renovations and seismic upgrade included the modernization of the interior, upgrades to the function and safety of the building, improved seismic system, updated ADA compliance, deferred maintenance upgrades, and programming improvements. The senior center will serve as a Care and Shelter facility during emergencies.
